This group of homes is intended to be constructed to be as energy efficient as possible given the allowable budget. The ground floor consists of a concrete slab on grade raised to approximately two feet above finished grade. The exterior walls of the one story models are constructed of Structural Insulated Panels (SIP) with pre-engineered wood trusses and Soy-based Spray Foam insulation applied to the underside of the roof sheathing to produce an insulated atticspace suitable for housing mechanical equipment. The two story models begin with the concrete first floor system, the SIP first floor walls and then receive a wood frame floor joist system for the second floor framing. Both the second floor walls and the roof panel system are constructed of SIP to complete the exterior envelope of the structure.
